| Mandingo Caucus Wants Independent Inquiry On Lofa Crisis |

Mandingo Caucus Chair Musa Bility The National Mandingo Caucus of Liberia is calling on the Government of Liberia (GOL) to set up an independent inquiry commission to conduct a robust investigation, identify the root cause and prosecute all those directly or indirectly linked to the recent episode that erupted in Konia Town and Voinjama in Lofa County leading to the destruction of churches, mosques, lives and properties. Condemning the entire episode in the strongest possible term, the Caucus believes that the constitution of an independent inquiry commission will curb impunity and undermine the recurrence of such melee that is creeping into becoming an appalling pattern in Liberia. In a press statement, the National Mandingo Caucus of Liberia says it is also profoundly troubled by biased pronouncement emanating from the lips of some members of Lofa County political leadership. The caucus considers such statement, especially in the absence of any credible investigation, as meeting no useful ends. Rather, the Caucus said these unguided utterances deepen the crisis and fan the flames of discord and may disrupt the hard earned peace and tranquility being enjoyed by all. In the same vein the group has admonished the media to be objective and very sensitive to the impact of their reportage on the situation as every Liberian institution has a stake and obligation to keep the peace and enhance the security of the nation. Meanwhile, the National Mandingo Caucus of Liberia is urging all citizens of Lofa not to yield to any form of provocation and remain calm in the face of the current melee as the government and all well-meaning Liberians and Foreign partners find a permanent resolution of the Lofa saga.
