Sekouba Konate-- Interim President

A deal has been struck between Guinea's junta leader Moussa Dadis Camara and interim leader Sekouba Konate, paving the way for elections in six months. Camara is to remain in convalescence.

- Guinea's political rivals Friday signed a deal providing for elections in six months and for junta chief Captain Moussa Dadis Camara to remain "in convalescence," according to an official statement.

The accord was signed by Camara, who is recovering after an assassination attempt, interim junta chief General Sekouba Konate, and Burkina Faso President Blaise Compaore who is mediating between the ruling junta and the opposition.

The deal provides for a national council of transition and a unity government before polls are held "in six months."
